HEDG Spring Meeting & AGM 2026

The HEDG Spring Meeting & AGM 2026 will be held on Friday 16th March from 09.30- 15:00, the meeting will be delivered online, and if you are unable to attend, you can nominate a deputy. Please note there will also be an Annual General Meeting (AGM) at 11:45, and this will be member only.

09:30 Welcome and introduction to the day (Paul Chin, HEDG Chair)
Collaboration and how we do this to influence nationally

09:40  Challenge and Change: open forum (facilitator: Bobbi Moore, HEDG Exec)

10:10  Speakers and Panel (facilitator: Isabel Lucas, HEDG Vice Chair)

Three speakers, followed by a panel Q&A:

  1. Charlotte Armstrong, Policy Manager, HEPI: Context and policy landscape update, around theme of collaboration (within the UK, HE to HE and FE to HE; international collaboration).
  2. Nunzio Quacquarelli, QS President & Chair of the Board, United Kingdom, QS Quacquarelli Symonds: Current trends and international future of the workforce in light of transnational education (TNE)
  3. Sagaya Amalathas, Director of Learning and Teaching, University of Southampton Delhi: Practical realities of offshore collaboration and TNE: learning, teaching, curriculum and staff development perspectives.

13:00 Pitch of ideas x 4 that will have national impact for the future of HE given current policy landscape (potential for HEDG funding) (facilitator: Juliet Eve, HEDG Exec)

HEDG members will provide three initial ideas:

#1: Understanding student needs in inclusivity: compilation of powerful student narratives on educational experiences prior to HE with suggestions of how this should/could inform design, delivery and CPD

#2: Developing a framework for dual site hybrid delivery in different settings

#3: Developing the descriptor for the future global education professional and developing a roadmap for how to get there.

13:25  Workshop to develop one of the projects:

In small groups, select one of the pitches above (or develop your own based on ideas from the day so far), indicating:

  • What is the value to the sector
  • What is the output expected
  • How does the output add to / compliment / address new drivers on the theme of collaboration
  • What resources do you need
  • Roadmap to delivery

 14:15  Pitch to Treasurer (and membership) (facilitator: Juliet Eve, HEDG Exec)

Each group presents its pitch to the membership; ideas will be assessed and taken forward by the HEDG Executive Committee.
